Born in 1981, he grew up in the Galway towns of Woodford and Loughrea. He has studied at G.T.I., National College of Art & Design, Dublin, and at Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, Cluain Mhuire where he specialised in Fine Art Printmaking. Concerned with various subjects such as architecture, landscape, social and political themes, he combines mediums and methods throughout his imagery to create a graphic and abstracted style.

Shane has exhibited both nationally and internationally and his work is in private collections worldwide. The largest body of his work shown to date with a two man show, with close friend Dean Kelly in The Kenny Gallery. 'Crotty & Kelly's Pretty Pictures' was a marked departure and explored themes more personal to him. The main theme that ran through the work was the trans-formative effect tragedy can bring about and its affect on how we perceive ourselves, our time here and the places we inhabit. Typically a subtle narrative winds its way through works of varying styles and printmaking techniques, both old and new.
