Exploring Galway Cityscape Through Print

18 Jul 17

An exciting new workshop with printmaker Deborah Ando combines exploring our surroundings and printmaking.

Day 1 - preparation day: We will start off in Galway City Centre! On the Saturday we will walk around town to take pictures of buildings and any features you may want to draw inspiration from. We will see how to take advantage of perspective and textures to be reworked through printmaking at later stage.

Day 2 - making of prints: This acid-free workshop starts with an introduction to materials, equipment, and tools and then moves onto the portfolio, where participants can see examples of prints made by other students and professional artists. Then, there will be a brief demonstration of the process, before participants start to create their own prints using the photographs taken on day 1. As we will be using a thick plastic plate (plexiglass) participants will be able to trace over their images without any difficulties. Once the plates are done we will be print them using a range of colours and papers.

Dates : 19th & 20th August

Duration: Saturday (2 hours, from 2-4pm) and Sunday (6 hours, from 11am- 4pm)

Technique: drypoint only (provided by tutor)
