Deirdre Deegan

Deirdre Deegan was born in Offaly in 1977 and now lives and works in Galway. Deirdre graduated from GMIT with a first class honours degree in Fine Art specialising in Printmaking. Following this Deirdre went on to train as an Art Teacher in LIT where she graduated with a first class honour.

Deirdre is a contemporary visual artist who specialises in printmaking, photography and mixed media. Her passion lies in working with textures, forms, light & colour. Her most recent work combines mixed media printmaking techniques with Collagraphs and can also at times incorporate found materials. More recently alternative photography techniques have become a significant part of her work.

In 2011 Deirdre spent three weeks in Finland on an artist’s bursary awarded by Leargas and Galway VEC. Deirdre was selected for the Claremorris Open Exhibition 2012 and was awarded an Individual Artists Bursary from Galway City Council in 2013. She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Dublin, Galway and London and her work is held in private collections. Deirdre has worked as a volunteer in the Education centre in Limerick Prison and has given several lectures as an invited artist to students in GMIT.
